Don't worry though here come tarrifs on Germany's cars thanks to our mate Mr Trump. That should please the people who think the EU is not based around German manufacturing and French agriculture - it won't affect them one bit

I see we also signed up an FTA with South Korea and already have MRA agreements in place with the USA, Canada and Australia.

And a final point - the country has always been divided between federalists and nationalists like every other country in the world. The difference with Brexit is that the remainers can't cope with losing.

Oooh!! you are a laugh but that's all

Hi

I fail to see your point about Trump and German Cars.

It is all EU Cars.

We export vast numbers of cars to the USA, Mini, Rolls and Bentley, which are German owned and JLR.

The World Economy is slowing down due to Trump's trade Wars, we are not immune.

When we leave the cars we send to the USA will still be subject to standard USA Trade Tariffs.

Trump is not our saviour, he is a worse protectionist than the EU.

His declared aim is to bring production back to the USA.

He has no majority in Congress and the leader of the Democrats in Congress has already said they will block and FTA with the UK unless we keep the backstop in place.

USA Politics we have no control over.

The above is not a reason not to leave, the reasons for leaving remain the same.

It is not however going to be having our cake and eating it.

My point is about the economies of the EU and especially Germany's which is based around the sale of german cars. T

If Trump puts tarrifs on the EU car market (which is he going to do affecting all 28 member states) it would affect Germany the most. The remainers think that the EU isn't based on German manufacturing and French agriculture so of course, this shouldn't bother Merkel one bit should it.

The Democrats did not say about keeping the backstop in place either - they said about building a hard border.

Dr Liam Fox today confirmed a trading agreement worth around £14 billion with South Korea. This is one of the largest trading agreements secured by the UK yet.

The UK sold £943 million of British made cars to South Korea in 2018, a 30% increase

Hi

Backstop and Hard Border is the same thing in reality.

For what it is worth, I would Torpedo Varadkar, who is the cause of the problem.

He is trying to use Brexit as a way of getting a United Ireland.

He can swan off.

I would tell him to back down and stop trying to blackmail the UK.

He needs to clearly understand that a No Deal does mean a Hard Border and not only that, if he persists, we will abolish the Common Travel Area and reciprocal Pension and Health Arrangements.

Irish Citizens will need a work visa to come here and they will not be able to bring their families with them.

We will destroy the Irish Economy, which is much more dependant on the UK than any German Car Manufacturer.

The Irish are already playing silly idiots, sending fishing boats to Rockall.

We differ on many technical things, I certainly do not share your optimism about leaving.

I am however totally committed to leaving the EU on 31st October and also convinced that we must play genuine hardball, not the crap the Tories are proposing.

It's a priniple accord to keep trading post brexit, so doesn't change present trade. The present trade between UK and south korea is 9 bn (4.5 export, 4.5 bn import). For a comparison, the present trade between UK and netherlands is 48 bn.

Backstop is about avoiding a hard border, but keeps the UK on a short leash.

Varadkar needs to realise we control all goods coming in and going out of his country.

Hi

I could not agree more.

We are in this mess, the Backstop, because Varadkar decided to play silly idiots and May let him.

He was a fly to be swatted.

We would have been out by now without the Backstop.

It is totally unacceptable, it is not leaving, it is letting the EU rule us for as long as they want.

I will not be blackmailed, I have no issue with the rest of the Withdrawal Agreement, although I know many of you do.

We could leave on 31st October with a WTO Free Trade Agreement.

Leaving with No Deal will cause us immense economic damage.

This is solely down to Varadkar, he needs to be crushed.

All it needs is someone with the guts to call his bluff and call him out.

We can destroy him, he needs to realise this.

It is also important to send a message to others about Future Trade Deals.

We are not a victim, we will fight our corner.

What do you expect him to say? It's in EU law that there is a border, with controls.
You tell me. Does the international law on borders between EU members and third party countries supercede the GFA?
