Re: 30 years ago today

I'm still living in the house where I was born. We sleep in the same bedroom where my parents and grand-parents slept before us. We've deeded the house to our youngest daughter and husband and in a short few years they will become the 4th generation to do so. When passing the property we retained a life-lease and share the home with them at present, along with 2 grand-children.

Outside of my 4 years in the military and another 3 or 4 when first married, this has been my only home and "The Good Lord Willing" we'll be here 'til the end.

The out buildings remain from when I was a child but in the ensuing 85 years, trees have grown, died and others have grown in their place.

That has got to be a record, 85 years in the same house. Brilliant & lovely it's an ancestral home. Apart from landed gentry there can't be many who's homes are for generations of the same family.
