good book,bad film

I do a quizz on a USA site often and one answer today was Slumdog millionaire. What a cra3 film-totally missed the depth of the book.

I also disliked the adaptation of the `Shining`-more rubbish that did not reflect Stephen King.

Having said that I thought the adaptation of `The Body`(again Stephen King) into the movie `Stand by me` was brilliant.

I'm a Stephen King fan.
Recently I bought 2 DVD's - 'The Shining' and 'The Fire catcher' I didn't rate either of them.
Think I'll stick to the books in future..

Thought the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy was pretty poor as a film though the TV series was OK.

Very few screen adaptations of Stephen King's books seem to work. I thought "Needful Things" was good on screen and I did like the TV adaptation of The Stand. I agree that "Stand By Me" was a brilliant adaptation. I also liked "Dreamcatcher" but wasn't keen on the dumbed down "alien" ending.

Going back to Slumdog, I never read the book but totally enjoyed the film.

Never been a SK fan so can't comment on his books or films.

Slum dog is a bit like watching Black Beauty-it is hinted at in films but the books show a darker side
