The winter season has not even started.

Hypothetically, if, at winter's end, the number of 2020/2021 flu deaths does rise to last years' (2019/20) total of 8,000 and the total of pneumonia deaths does reach the annual average of 30,000, then, at the current rate - 70 per day , the COVID-19 death total for winter) will be at least 14,000 but may be considerably more - nobody knows, as yet, how bad COVID-19 can get in a harsh winter last April, 1000 a day were dying and even in May 400 a day succumbed to the virus - remember, some "experts" predicted that the virus would die in summer ..... well, it hasn't .....
You forget that the vulnerable person reservior will be more than
half empty due to the previous deaths Omah, and so there will be
less fuel for covid to feed on?
Once the current crop of oldies has passed on then the
infection rate may remain high BUT the death rate will more likely
drop to even lower levels as the population sheds its weaker
members?? IMO, of course !

Roughly 70 people a day (officially) are dying now from coronavirus - by the New Year an additional 7,000 (or more) could be added to the current total of 52,327 (officially) …..
.. .. and the Chinese higher echelons must be jumping for joy as they wait for the right time to release their already tried & tested vaccine.

Same here, though not very often.

You forget that even some younger people getting it mildly are having all sorts of health problems after catching it & supposedly recovering. That is not good.

Indeed .....

So-called "Long Covid" currently affects tens of thousands of people in the UK, many young, and will, potentially, affect hundreds of thousands before the winter is out.
