This organisation was selling arms and equipment and steel to Germany even AFTER war was declared both in 1914 and yet again in 1939.

Those who could afford it, did nothing wrong by eating in a 'high end' restaurant.It seems that some people are too keen to associate eating well with being unpatriotic. Perhaps they simply don't like wealthy people eating in expensive restaurants - in war or peace!

I do so despair of all this class hatred stuff. Times have changed you know, and even the House of Lords these days is mainly stuffed with Labour peers.... never heard of Lord John Prescott et al, and have you bothered to view the resume of Ed Milliband lately, what has he to do with the working class.?We'll never have true class equality in this country because of the politics of spite and envy pedaled by the left. Tthe truth is that to the politician socialism is just a means to an end, and the only way they can keep their jobs and their grand lifestyles intact is by feeding the baser instincts of the less fortunate. We need to start looking beyond that and realise what game they are playing with the electorate.
Socialism is nothing more than hypocrisy on a massive scale...I think "One Nation Labour", it's just a bad joke.

I've lost interest in politics and certainly shut down when any 'Lord' gets a mention - load of tosh .....And - I couldn't care less, what any one else has got either ....Money don't buy taste and they aint got any as far as I'm concerned. It don't buy morals either, in fact it usually buys a load of toys that I wouldn't give ya tuppence for.
I'm talking 'toffs' and their attitude that's it.

'Champagne socialists' are no better than Thatcher (phth, phth, phth) and you know full well my feelings on that score. However there are some of us on the 'left' who have held true to our Socialist principles and would never sacrifice them under any circumstances.

It would seem that hotels & restaurants operating either before rationing was introduced or which were exempt from some restrictions, operated openly and legally.
I can't see anything wrong with eating in one if you can afford it. Do you have the same problem with the 'British restaurants' which were open to everyone and served food in addition to the ration allowance?
Or is it just "Toffs" that you don't like?
