I can't see anything wrong with eating in one if you can afford it. Do you have the same problem with the 'British restaurants' which were open to everyone and served food in addition to the ration allowance?

With toffs though, its their pompous, high and mighty nature that I object to. I'm entitled to my opinion and wouldn't dream of trying to change yours.

it's interesting that even on here we seem to fall into two groups - those who think it's wrong for some people to have more than others and those who don't. I guess the world will always be like that. It's why communism and socialism in the end never work.Pity though that we don't more clearly understand that when a society is more equal with a smaller gap between the wealthy and the poor, everyone is ultimately better off - less resentment, less crime, less unemployment , less alcohol and drug addiction, less civil unrest. In the end it benefits us all. Australia used to me more like that but we are heading down the slippery slope of Americanisation.

I didn't think that's what patsy meant. I didn't think she objected to some having more than others, I think she meant it's their attitude to us lesser mortals that gets up her nose, not what possessions they have.

In my experience it is often the wealthy who are the meanest and most uncaring about others.

I was just going to respond to your above post 356 and say it has 'nothing' to do with possessions - purely attitude .....
