Electricity Providers

I am with EON, and I find it very expensive. I pay between £180/£200 quarterly.

What Provider do you use?

Do you pay less than me?

Re: Electricity Providers

SWELEC (Scotish Power) I pay about £125 for this quarter (winter)
it's normally less than that for summer months.

Re: Electricity Providers

EDF, with storage radiators, that I hate. My recent bill for the winter, bearing in mind I was away for 9 days + a fortnight, was about £190! Couldn't begin to imagine the cost had I been home for those days. I presume their prices have risen.

Last year's 1/4ly charges were (from Jan). £195.28, £184.71, £90.92, £109.87.

I only have two heaters on: one in the lounge, and the tiny one in the hall, sometimes turning one off. It's a very expensive form of heating.

Re: Electricity Providers

I'm with Scottish Hydro (SSE) and I pay £180 a quarter. However, with no mains gas, I cook with electricity and run 3 frezers & two fridges.

Re: Electricity Providers

OVO - £34 a month for dual fuel. Might change to Ebico soon though as they have no standing charges.

Re: Electricity Providers

We're with E.on and ours is about £240.00 for the last quarter but this includes gas so the electricity bill was about £90.00 I think. We don't have a dishwasher or tumble dryer, is that why yours is higher?

Re: Electricity Providers

Virtually impossible to compare with anybody else I should think, as there are too many variables surely? From the size is your house, to how old is it, to how well insulated is it, to how do you heat and cook, to how long is your heating on, even down to what time do you go to bed etc. etc. so how could you ever hope to make a reasonable comparison ?

The only logical way to compare your deal is check it against other providers by using uswitch.com or similar rather than trying to compare with other people in completely different circumstances.

Re: Electricity Providers

Over here we work with tiers. The first 314 kWh is in tier 1, $0.13 (£0.08 ), then 94 kWh, tier 2, $0.16 (£0.10), 220 kWh in tier 3, $0.27 (£0.16), 272 kWh in tier 4, $0.30 (£0.18). And last month we used 900 kWh, but we have an electric car, we cook electric, there's a pool, and we don't get to use any of our solar power here (rental: 2700 sqft/250 sqmtr).
When we lived in an apartment (1088 sqft/101 sqmtr), no electric car, gas stove, no solar, we paid about $25/£15 a month.

Mh, hardly any heating on where I live

We are with EON and pay less than you, approx. £160 per quarter for gas and electricity combined.

It will vary depending on the size of the property, the insulation as well as usage and appliances.
