Re: The $27,000 suitcase.

People have more money than sense! On GMTV this morning a statue of a "Walking Man" that looked ludicrous and meant for the scrapheap, sold for about 65 million pounds ($104.3) sculpted by Giacometti! Yet the poor people of Haiti are left without a penny!

Even if I had money, I doubt I would pay that for a suitcase!

Re: The $27,000 suitcase.

Some people can afford to pay those prices for items while others in the world have so little. Was that statue a private buy, or was it bought by a country for a museum or somewhere? If a private buy, the gap between rich and poor is too wide.

I thought about those who have nothing when I bought a couple of computers earlier this week, even though the computers we have at present do the job. Yes, I still bought them instead of giving some of that money to charities. So maybe, in principle, I'm the same as the person who bought the statue.
