There looks to be two types of moving 'gif' these days. One is a bit of video clipped down and repeated over and over and then made into gif format. That's a progression from the 'animated gif' as used to be.This is where a photo or an image is duplicated several times with each picture being slightly altered. The gif images are then run in sequence to produce movement. A computer equivalent to those old flip books where the pages flipped through quickly produced animation.
