The younger generation doesnt cook anymore, and are too busy running their kids to sports games to think of doing things for neighbors.They are missing out.

It’s not only the welcome gift, it’s as you say, it’s the sharing of ubundence.

We share what we grow with our neighbours and they share back. And from the sharing comes invites to social days and evenings and you are soon part of the community

That is more of a country tradition than a city one. Especially now that few people know how to actually cook. The extent of my Ex's kitchen knowledge was making coffee in an automatic drip machine.
