Re: Budget 2015

I am not optimistic or pessimistic just think we have to wait and see. Some will never be happy though as they really hate paying for employees and if given a chance would bring in slavery I am sure !

Re: Budget 2015

It may encourage companies to employ school leavers and young people who won't qualify for the living wage, so that could be good! I was worried that my youngest would encru more debt having two more years of study to do but, it looks like it will be new students that will lose the grant. It seems totally unfair that so many older people had a free education and done very well are not bothered by saddling this generation with huge debts. Perhaps there should be a sponsor a student scheme!

Yes I agree we had to make very stark choices when the kids got to uni age, one decided not to accrue debt and joined the army (still worries me but he is having a great time) his brother we were going to try to help but seeing his brother has decided to sign up too. They get an education and are paid for it in the army.

Yes, we did look at the Army but, found a really good uni course which suited talent so took that instead. Well done to your kids!

And to yours. We can all only do best we can and army seems, although I had misgivings, to suit him and hopefully his brother too.

What annoys me is they've kept on and on about all kids should go on to further education, obviously to stop so many being out of work, now they're charging them for it!

I agree again I am actually keen on education whatever your age being free, they want people to move up and on but accessing education and training is so expensive it keeps many people down.

Well Patsy the way I read it she didn't demand this, as someone who has an important job she was just pointing out that the current so called minimum wage doesn't really provide enough to live on.

Also (with respect) the use of 'underprivilged' is a dangerous term, we never really know what people are earning and it's a cast iron certainty that some people who claim to be underpriviliged are in fact 'milking' the benefits sytem.

Still don't listen to me, my wife never does in fact she says I'm slightly to the right of Genghus Khan when it comes to sympathy

But that was in a time when we were only slightly overpopulated.

Since then the population growth has gone ballistic, all those twenty somethings who so indulgently decide they want 3 or 4 or 5 kids without even a micro seconds thought as to what it's doing to the resources available to all of us. And I haven't even mentioned immigration

We are now at 64 million, almost double what is a sustainable and acceptable level, if we went back to 30 to 40 million you could have free unniversity education, but not now.

See now way I look at that if we have so many more people we should have so much more tax being paid so we could still pay for education. But I may be wrong I often am
