Smart phone lense attachment

Does anyone know anything about these lenses that you can fix onto a smart phone?

My son used one on his iPhone for a while (until he woke up to himself and bought a Samsung)

They are OK, inspite of the article's claim they cannot improve picture quality or at least not noticeably but they can make some interesting photos.

They do a job and they do it quite well.

There used to be such items for smaller cameras to give extra zoom, cant recall the name, but they did lessen the image quality.
