We bought our diesel car four years ago and now pay about £250 a year road tax which doesn’t seem too bad really. We’ve considered changing it for a petrol but we like the car and consider we are probably best keeping it. We may save on road tax on a newer car but depreciation will be a lot more.

May be, next time he's filling his car or shopping he'll hang his head in shame.....the HGVs CO2s that deliver his fuel, food, clothing etc give off over 109t co compared to my little cars 2.01....so yes, BOLLOCKS is my final answer

No idea how much mine is, I can't remember. What I do know is that it doesn't pay for the repair of potholes around here.

That's because the money goes to H M Customs, not one penny goes to fixing roads.

Repairs come out of our general tax.
