The addition for declaring my pre existing conditions , Osteoarthritis uses a walking stick and Meniere's Syndrome is £18 .33 on a yearly policy with StaySure,so yes if I fell and injured myself I would feel positive about them paying .

I would never do anything on holiday to aggravate either condition .

The portugese law the nhs shows says:
1 – This Law applies to UK nationals who have established residence in national territory up to the day the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.

Paragraph 2 states that it also covers family members.

Re: EHIC Awareness

If you can afford a 2 grand holiday you can afford 30 quid a year for insurance.

Same as tourists coming here - they can use their insurance to use our nhs

So no pre existing conditions, at least, not refused by insurance company. Good for you. Bon voyage.

They don't insure stupidity.
It's not that simple. Pre-Existing conditions are very complex, and someone can fall ill due to a pre-existing condition where it had nothing to do with their environment or activity.

Either way you look at it, it will be fine if the UK remain in the EU. If they leave it won't be fine unless you have the money to pay for expensive temporary insurance. That's the real point here.

Edit: It appears you would be ok in Portugal up to December 31st 2020

That seems like a very fair approach. Hopefully other EU countries follow suit
