dawdling!

I sit upon the gray stone wall and watch all passersby
They come in all shades of size, and age and faces wry
They sometimes chatter to a friend, heads twisted and ahead
And others are in solitary pose shop windows turn their heads

The young are sometimes slim and fast a spring in every stride
Whilst others protrude their surplus fat and waddle down the aisle
I watch the sad and lonely with drawn out stares and sighs
And then the stooped oldies who seem to struggle to survive

The kids who chatter just non-stop and twist and grimace wild
I wonder why they shop at all they seldom seem to smile?
And then there are the lovers clutching hands and waists and bums
They’re in a different world you know and we just catch the crumbs!

But now the leash has tightened and I’m up upon my feet
With bags thrust into my hands I suddenly feel quite weak!
I’ve shared the ‘worlds’ of others just for a little while
And now I have to find a taxi and ask him for a ride!

Go easy on me chums, I'm only a council house boy, raised in poverty & self taught in the matter of the written word.

All these witty comments are intrinsically wasted on a virtually feral lad such as me.

I'll think of something desperately and succinctly devastating . BUt I doubt it.


I do declare that I enjoy spitty's , lugubrious presence & thoughts when all else are being normal

He always knew he was the "One"
From cradle to the grave
They said RJ you are the "one"
Just wear it and be brave

He said just wait I'm humble lad
raised humble and self taught
"They" said "you've been chosen lad
fear not don't be distraught"

you have the gift to spread the word
inspire the blind and lame
So RJ take the baton call
"The One" is now your name!

Sometimes folk think well, that's that
Should I Take-A-Break, or have a Chat
Should you talk prolific, or wear a muzzle
Either choice Reveals a puzzle
Why not do both, or read a story
Just like the old days, say Jackanory
Has Capricorn caught Cancer
Is Spittie a Chancer
There may seem no logic
That's coz it's off Tropic
