True-but briefly. Aspirational people are in a hurry to get further up,they don't hang about down here. The higher up the ladder the rung is,the more slowly people tend to move to the next one. Gets a bit crowded, near the top, with a lot of elbowing, competing and shuffling...LOADS of room down here!

Re: Work

"my gutter is getting overcrowded"; yes, its getting that way in the US. Our economy stinks, and we have educated, experienced folks trying to scrape by with a couple of part-time jobs cobbled together to make a weeks pay.
I'm one of them.

Sorry to hear that dm. I'm very fortunate I only have one job at 30 hours a week.

Re: Work

after being unable to work through disability for 8 years I finally struggled to get back to work and took a brilliant job in July. I am very poorly paid, less than the minimum wage, have had to go self employed but wouldn't change things. My job has huuuuuuuuge prospects, my boss pays for my car, all except the petrol and frequently gives me extra when he can. It's hard to explain but he has another business that he is a director of which has been running 30 years which he shares with his brother, I am employed separately as he is going into side projects on his own, and at the moment he can only pay me a basic wage. However we have just had one of our projects approved for home office testing with a budget of a quarter of a million. Once it passes (which it will) then the company will be officially launched and i will be given shares. When we float the company I will be handsomely rewarded for my loyalty. Oh and I get to go to work every day in a stately home

Re: Work

Last month we had Tre Azam from the apprentice here as an inspirational speaker for a group of 50 college students that we did a seminar for. He was great, I had to pretend I knew who he was though, did my homework the day before, cos I have never seen an episode of the apprentice!

It's a good job the audience weren't "Over 50", inspiring those folks can sometimes be like flogging a dead horse.
