When he was blackmailing Robert in the Restaurant, Robert handed him an envelope full of notes.

Then when he started threatening Robert back at the house, Robert told him he had proof of him accepting the bribe on the CCTV camera which he would pass to the police.

He scarpered quickly then.

I will admit that Marge and I mumbled something along the lines of "what would we do?"
