Re: Greta Thunberg ... again

Hi

Some cannot accept Scientific Reality.

We are having an effect on the Planet.

Air Pollution is a direct result of Humans.

We will never stop huge changes in the World Weather, that is utter stupidity.

We are due another Ice Age.

What we can do is stop making things worse.

Yes. Correct.

WE must make many changes to save the world.

China, India, etc, can continue what they're doing...

and the world will be saved!

In addition to that, there has always been climate change which is beyond human control. Whose fault was the Ice Age? Whose fault was the recession of the ice and global warming all those many centuries ago?

No. Greta, Extinction Rebellion and all the others cut no ice with me. Let them complain 'til they're blue in the face.

Let's have more electric cars and find ourselves with regular power cuts to compensate for the additional use of electricity!

"Whataboutery" is no excuse for doing nothing. Even as individuals everything to reduce our polution footprint will help.

Re: Greta Thunberg ... again

The cost is enough to see that this is now political one-upmanship.

If we are to take saving the planet seriously, this will have to be curtailed.

Though the cost is going up each year, we’re still way off the cost of Sydney’s extravaganza – the reported figure for this year’s fireworks display was $6.5 million (roughly £3.4 million).

We are on a massive guilt trip here in the west because we've never had it so good and the powers that be, together with the media are using this to blackmail us into accepting things that we otherwise would have laughed at. Sure, localised pollution is a problem in some cases, but we don't suffer the same smog and pollution in London and the big cities that we did in the fifties. Can other countries follow our lead? This is where they should be targeting their efforts otherwise we in the UK are just wasting our time.

I've got to page 4 but I can't stand anymore of this rubbish ! Never thought I'd be agreeing with The Artful Todger but I am and only Keezoy seems able to confront our generations failures as I do. Probably because most of you will be dead in the next 30 you don't have to worry.

Ah, so it someone else's fault?

Yet China is already on track to meet its emission targets a decade early.

Hydroelectric is probably a significant part of that.

Well said.
What a shame that so many people on their soapboxes can't see it.
