One of the tasks I frequently have to do for the memsaib is trim her horse's hooves and mane. The trimmings all go for making glue. [there are several horses there,so although it takes a while to fill the canister,it is actually worthwhile,as the proceeds go to a horse charity] The mane trimmings mostly go to a charitable foundation that makes wigs for people undergoing chemo,as it's most visible side-effect is hair loss. So it may be worth asking if you could have some...they'll be happy to help once you explain why.
Obtaining horse-hair to make a mane and tail isn't the problem. I want to use the original mane and find something to match it as closely as possible for the tail.
Imagine a small rug sampler, fluffy on one side and rows of stitching on the canvas backing. A bit like a fluffy bath or toilet mat. That's what the mane looks like. I think something similar but stitched into a tube shape would do for the tail, or the fake fur collar from a jacket, or possibly even a bit like a the fur rim of a parka of scooter riders fame.

Getting a person to team up with me as the back end of a PANTO HORSE. I used to do it for charity events but these days its hopeless recruiting.
Perhaps you should refrain from eating broccoli or baked beans before your performance in future.
