Socialism to me is not the politics of envy, it is providing those who work in essential jobs a decent standard of living and health care.
I'd be quite happy to support that.

However, it should be possible to achieve those aims without the need to raise taxes, the reason being that I believe there is still a great deal of waste in this country.

Money could be taken from the undeserving at both ends of the social spectrum.

Politicians, senior civil servants and other well paid administrators who manage to claim money for all sorts of unnecessary outlays.

At the other end, shirkers who refuse to work and prefer to claim benefits instead, including those who have dozens of children they couldn't possibly afford without handouts and, of course, the booze, cigarettes and other expensive items they don't need.
