You know right from the early chapters exactly what happened to the baby, whereas I gather it's supposition in the tv adaptation, and I suppose all will be revealed at the end.

After watching last week's episode I read reviews of the book online and know what happened to Noah - but didn't read on so have no idea why the court case in 'future' flashbacks is in Scotland when all the action takes place in Oz?I think the baby's sock was placed by Alistair to frame his ex wife and thus win custody of his daughter and also escape suspicion re Noah's disappearance.
