Wheelbarrow Tyres

Do you get punctured tyres on your wheelbarrow?

If so, I have just read in my garden magazine about a 'Puncture Proof Wheel' you can fit. It is designed to cope with everything from crossing glass, to thorns and nails and is proving to be a very good product.
It is available by mail order from the makers:

www.active-products.co.uk and it costs £24.99.

It is a 14" wheel which they say is suitable for most wheelbarrows, and is said to be easy to fit.
Maybe it would be useful for builders barrows too?

Re: Wheelbarrow Tyres

I don't have a wheelbarrow, wish I did but buying one always seemed a big expense so I use old buckets to move things around. Good exercise

Re: Wheelbarrow Tyres

We have inherited a very old wheel barrow, found it under the caravan among many other treasures, but it rarely gets used as Steven has bought one of those huge rubble bags from home base and finds that better for taking the garden rubbish down the steep slopes from the site to the green rubbish dump. Just drags if behind him, he got over confident couple of weeks ago and tried to do it with two they over took him and he nearly ended up in the dump himself, which caused much hilarity

Re: Wheelbarrow Tyres

When I lived in SA in the early eighties, they had tyres made of honeycomb rubber, for bikes etc. It was such a good idea, I wonder why they didn't catch on everywhere.

I seem to recall the moon buggies had those, also few years ago military tyres in USA were being made like that too. Does make you wonder why they don't make them for all of us though.

Re: Wheelbarrow Tyres

I think there's a form of silicone that "heals itself" trouble is they'd only sell one set of tyres if they didn't wear out.
