That depends on the job, of course.

Some jobs benefit from someone who has learnt at least the basics from books (or elsewhere), but even so having learnt the basics many such positions benefit more from personal experience and research.

Other jobs require very little or no book learning, but almost certainly benefit from experience.

No-one knows a job before having learnt it one way or another, either by book learning or by practical experience.

I agree. As far as I know, they don't do educational courses in money laundering!
