Sweets

This has probably been done before so apologies in advance,
So, what sweets do you remember from your childhood, me it's spangles , aztec bars, Highland toffee chews, and summit bars, ( no one seems to remember these ) also did sweets seem bigger in those days? I seem to remember wagon wheels the size of tea plates, or is it because I was smaller and things just seemed giant sized.

Re: Sweets

Glad you remember Aztec bars, my brother in law developed them when he worked at Fry's! I liked Toffee Cups, Five Boys ( not the pictures on them though), Sherbet Fountains and lots more. But, nothing with nuts or fruit in. Too healthy!

Re: Sweets

There seems to be a revival of traditional sweet shops here. I've been enjoying a very traditional Scottish sweet, Coulter's Candy.

This was the subject of an early advertising jingle....

Ally bally, ally bally bee,
Sittin' on yer mammy's knee,
Greetin' for a wee bawbee,
Tae buy some Coulter's candy.

I used to love 'Old English' Spangles.

Re: Sweets

Wilko Mints that came in a box. Mojo's, Golden Nuggets? came in a cloth bag?
Then they was some kind of Tobacco that was stringy and sweet. Arrow bar, Bazooka Joe bubbly gum with cartoon picture, and Anglo Bubbly gum. Golf Balls chewing gum. Sour Grape chewing gum. PK chewing gum. Maypole, a stick with Kayli inside the coloured stripey long straw with chocolate in each end so you didn't loose any out. Rainbow drops like coloured puffs in a cornet shaped bag. Fireman's hose pipe, like liquorice but came in red.

Re: Sweets

You don`t get that free in a lucky bag
