Re: Sunday Trading

I've worked Sundays regularly myself for years, and it's routine these days. Sunday is just another ordinary day in the week to me.

Re: Sunday Trading

My husband like Tachyon has worked Saturday and Sunday nights for years. We had to change our way of shopping, ie getting things on a lunch time or before I went home in the evening. Clothes shopping waited until we were on holiday.

Now as I have reduced my working hours to three days a week our weekend as such is a Thursday and Friday, so much easier all round. So I don't go shopping on a Sunday and really feel for those who really don't want to work it not just for religious reasons.

Opening on a Sunday is one thing (we already have that) no need to extend the hours surely ............

Re: Sunday Trading

I dont see why shops shouldnt open longer if they wish, though I would like to see staff being free to go to Church if they wish, but that could cause problems as those of other religions would want their Holy days off as well [ especially in my multi cultured area ]. People dont have to shop on Sunday if they dont want to,there are still people who like to lay in and/or go for a long walk. How many of us have not been glad to find an open shop on a Sunday at some time or other?

Though I can go shopping any day of the week and at any hour, I still don't like the Sunday restrictions.

I agree, Patsy.

We're still all here, alive and kicking aren't we? Therefore we all survived the days when shops didn't open at all on Sundays.
With fridges and freezers in every home nowadays, if someone can't survive without shopping for 1 DAY a week, there is something terribly wrong.
Personally, I wouldn't dream of dragging round a supermarket on a Sunday.

I always think it's daft that garden centres close at 4pm on Sundays, just the day you fancy gardening and run out of something.

Re: Sunday Trading

Sunday stopped being special some while ago, discussing how many hours, degrees, minutes retail outlets are open for is irrelevant. Imo.

Re: Sunday Trading

As a matter of interest, do the supermarket chains pay time and a half for Saturday and double time for Sunday does anyone know?
