What you get when you assume everyone can look after and pay for them selves all their lives with no help at all I guess.

Many are enthusiastic about that until they find themselves in trouble.

We have a duty of care to people we imprison, me I would like that extended to every who needs it. But that won't be popular. And the moment anyone gets help a heads up like increase in NMW suddenly they are self centred and uncaring - amazes me how some look at it all.

True enough, then you have to abuse in the care homes too, one might be even safer in prison, some of the homes are under investigation over here now.

Is there a culture more willing to farm out their elders to the care of others than the British? It is my observation when travelling that there isn't.

In doubt it but I do wonder if we didn't have this everyone for them selves culture would more be willing to try, myself and I am not alone have no pension etc because I stopped working long enough to care for the elderly in the family. Not many are willing to do that.

Not blowing my own trumpet BTW as if I knew then what I know now I may have chosen differently at the time I didn't realise how it could blight my life later on.
