Re: Ideal date

Ideal date? hhmmmm that will be difficult for me, anyone that has read the thread on manners and what annoy's people will understand

I would want to know the person first, their likes and dislikes in life, what excites them, what makes them sad, what are their interests, their hobbies. I would then tap into this and construct a date around her interests and hobbies. I would take her to my place where i would cook (try to cook as i am not a very good cook) a meal i know she would like. Yes i could spend money on going to a restaurant and fine dining but in my eyes/ my mind, if this lady is someone i want to spend my time with then she is someone special, someone i am prepared to put effort into effort into being taken out of my comfort zone to do something i would not normally do.

But, be that as it may, sitting on a park bench by a lake, with a flask of hot tomato soup and a couple of ham sandwiches, gazing into the face of my date, seeing her gorgeous smile would mean more to me and i would hope to her too, than sitting in some expensive restaurant getting drunk on wine.

Re: Ideal date

Hiking in the Peak district and then sharing some chips and beer in Matlock Bath, walking along a dramatic seashore hand in hand, gazing at a sunset on a sailing yacht on a lake surrounded by mountains with a bucket of champers on ice.

Anything other than a cinema or restaurant with candles and flowers and tinkling music. If it has to be a restaurant date then it would be sitting outside on a summers evening with live music, preferably classical or a country pub lunch.

A beautiful beach at sunset where I would have a meal of fish and fruit to the sound of the sea .

Re: Ideal date

My ideal date would still be the first one I had with the lady I have been married to for the last 30 years. She met me in Manly where I was working and we had a drink in one of the little pubs. Then we caught the ferry into the city and had dinner at a great jazz club. It was a magic night with great food and great music. We went our separate ways at the end of the night after late night coffee and a walk along the harbourfront. But we both knew it was for keeps from that night. Totally corny I know but it's the truth.

Re: Ideal date

actually thinking about it more seriously, my ideal date would be with Freddie Mercury having a picnic overlooking Lake Geneva in Montreux with him telling me stories of exciting times of his life. Wow, how I wish that could really be. I'd love to go to Montreux which was his favourite peaceful place on earth.

Ahhh, one can dream.

Switzerland has really gone down the pan because of all the so called asylum seekers. Lake Garda especially so, or at least it had four years ago. It's sickening what's been allowed to happen to Europe.
