under paid pension

Just had a letter from BT saying they have been underpaying my pension so are giving me a lump sum plus interest, as well as a pension increase. Won't say how much but is well into four figures. That is also on top of one lot of share dividends in a three figure sum.

Just wondering what the third bit of good news will be

Re: under paid pension

Perhaps a demand from HMRC concerning underpayment of taxes due from your extra pension income?

Re: under paid pension

Good for you! Nice when it is in your favour.

I remember when we phoned our's to say that we wished one of our three pension pots paid out in a lump sum with the other two draw-down.
We were given a figure which we were pleased with, but by the time the pot reached our bank account less than seven days later, it was almost £1,500 short of the figure stated to us.

When we phoned to enquire why, we were informed that the figure is calculated on the day they write the cheque, not when we said we wished to cash it in. That, on top of the horrendous tax we had to pay for cashing it in as a lump sum, had me fuming. Robbers!

Re: under paid pension

Hi

Good for you.

I get a much reduced State Pension because I have Government and Private Pensions.

Government Pensions are index linked, so far below State Pension Increases.

My Private Pensions are managed by my kids, they are very good at it.
