Load of Cobblers

A friend of my daughter has made a special trip to Paris to buy himself some trainers. FFS, what the deuce?

What would you be willing to spend?

A grand? For that I'd want somewhere around fifty pair, or rather wouldn't even wear glorified plimsolls.

We've both got some deck shoes but that's as far as either of us would go.

Must be mad flying to Paris just for that ..... I hope he gets some good odour eaters. At that price you wouldn't want whiffy feet.

Me? I never wear trainers. I'm a boot addict.

Re: Load of Cobblers

I'd cheerfully make the trip to Camden Town for a pair of Solovair boots!
More of a pilgrimage than retail therapy.
As for trainers... how much for a pair of Green Flash these days?

They will probably double in value when he gets back. Collecting trainers is big business these days.

Wouldn't go to Paris at the moment, not even to get Plastered.

In fairness, he took a detour to Paris on his way back home from a few days break in Portugal.

Complete mystery where he gets his money from.

I wouldn't have a pair of trainers as a gift - well - not unless they looked like Martin Shaw anyway. He could train me - any time!

Re: Load of Cobblers

Must have more money than sense, Dex.

Mind you, no end of people used to do the same trip just for booze, so maybe it's not so different?
I wouldn't do either though.
