I'm pleased it's worked out for you there, Primus.
I remember back when you were first writing about changing jobs and were a little apprehensive, but sounds like you did the right thing, so good for you.

Yes it’s like any major change mups , a little bit scary and filled with self doubt, but I’m so glad I did it, I suppose I’m lucky in a way, having done the hard yards for 30 years, and paying into a pension ( thank goodness) which did well, plus paying off the mortgage left me in a fortunate position where I can survive without a job, or with a part time job, that’s why I won’t take anymore rubbish in employment, I’ll just walk and either find something else, or retire completely..

Re: Nice of them

Glad it's working out for you Primus, you deserve it after many years in a job that provided lots of stress. I had to laugh about your fracas with the head housekeeper, Mrs Fox worked in care homes and nursing homes most of her life, and when she did her back in lifting the old dears (no fancy lifting gear in those days) she was made 'Head Housekeeper'.... And I know perfectly well what it means to suddenly acquire a boss, even at home.... She's long retired now, but still beavers around the house like she's still the head housekeeper.....

I can also relate to your new found freedom, I also took on a part time job once I had secured my works pension, and it's a great feeling that; Gone are the days of taking crap off your employers, and with no mortgage or debts, you are free to come and go as you please. I'm retired now and working harder than ever... So enjoy the camaraderie and banter while at work because you'll have to spend more time on the forum to get your fix once it's gone.....

Spot on foxy, although it was the last four years that became stressful, google JLA and look at the job reviews
