I do however remember a woman glassing someone but it was rare to see or hear about anything like that.

I am glad it is illegal to own a gun for protection in the UK, it hasn't done the US any good at all that they have the right to own the things. Anyone carrying any sort of weapon in the UK should spend a long time in prison, imo.
The other thing is an old but very true "chestnut" that when guns are illegal only criminals will have guns. It's what is increasingly happening today in the inner city slums and colonies.

I have yet to hear one of these people explain how most European police forces routinely carry guns, yet the problems faced in America don't seem to arise there.
Now look at Switzerland, a very peaceful country, where even the public are permitted to own firearms. How very strange! Perhaps it is something more to do with America specifically, than the right to bear arms.
