Roadworks.

Hi

The main A49, a very busy road especially for HGVs is closed today and tomorrow from 9 till 4.

It has not been well advertised and being unaware of it, set off this morning.

The diversion is a few miles outside Shrewsbury and is down side lanes, totally unsuitable for HGVs.

You then arrive at at a crossroads with no signs as to which way to go.

It is chaos

If they had put the road closed and diversion signs on the Shrewsbury Bypass Roundabout, traffic could have been diverted along the A53 and A41 , only adding around 20 minutes to the journey.

I will never understand traffic engineers.

Re: Roadworks.

We've got them everywhere! They've closed the Axbridge by-pass which means long diversions if you need to get to Weston-super-Mare or anywhere near. Daughter had Chiropractor appointment and was late because of it. The road to Wells and Glastonbury is littered with temporary lights.

We had all those weeks with no traffic, why didn't they do things then?

Maybe they weren't working at that time either?

What is it with all of these coned off lanes? Hardly any cyclist or pedestrian ever uses them and they are creating havoc in terms of traffic jams.

It seems odd that they weren't key workers Mags. Lots of people had to work. Son-in - law works in construction, they managed to work all through.

Councils missed a trick there! They could've done work in half the time with no traffic.
Makes you wonder if they enjoy making us miserable!

Re: Roadworks.

Traffic diversions are horrendous. I can remember when they were changing the lay out of the M5 at the M5/M4 turn off, they'd closed the road, it was dark when we got there & we followed the diversion only to get to a junction with no instructions & it was so dark, no lights street lights. luckilly we took the left turn & it proved the right way, but it was pure luck than knowing where we were going.
