Just a bit different, that's all, but well worth watching!

Gorgeous views of Yorkshire, and the boneshaker cars.

The actor Callum Woodhouse, who pays Tristram is brilliant and has made me laugh out loud!
I see Nicholas Ralph, who plays James Herriot is a newish actor. I think he is great but reminds me of Prince William in looks.
After reading this thread I decided to give the series a chance .....
Surprisingly, the new series seems just like the old series, neither better nor worse - probably because the producers stuck to the main attractions - the scenery, the cars and the characterisations .....
Obviously, no-one can "replace" Robert Hardy but Samuel West is an acceptable Siegfried while Nicholas Ralph is very good indeed as James. Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall seems a bit young for the job and, as pointed out above, too "kind" but that's a minor flaw. Rachel Shenton as Helen, has, so far been admirable. Callum Woodhouse as Tristan, however, is the one actor that "jars" with me - he's too big and too "wooden". As for the supporting actors, in the roles of "clients", they're what everyone expects - Yorkshire stereotype farming stock but there's nowt wring wi' that .....
It was, naturally, sad to see the late Diana Rigg as Mrs. Pumphrey but a pleasure to think that she would have enjoyed the role .....
