In our minds, we put people into boxes who then slot into a particular section.
We don’t always look out of the sides and see it other than the first impression, we just presume.
So true, art. We are bombarded with input via all of our senses, and would go mad with it if we didn't filter and categorize. I've read that about 95% of what we see and hear we process automatically without really attending to it.
I suppose that is why we make such lousy witnesses.
When I was teaching kids to read, it was shown that the fewer new experiences children have had, the harder it is for them to learn.
We connect every new experience to one we have already had.
