d00d in the Hot seat.

Please leave a question for d00d on this thread. Hopefully you will have more than one question but please only post one at a time. it makes it easier for the 'seated' to quote and answer.

d00d, just quote one question at a time and your answer.
You don't have to answer any question you're uncomfortable with.

Welcome to the Hot seat & good luck.

Re: d00d in the Hot seat.

My first question is: What was your first job after leaving school?

I was a tractor driver by day, and worked in a pub by night. There was also a time when in the pub skittle alley, I'd be the one to set up the pins, paid in pints of ale.

I was born 'n raised in Glos, moved to the big city at the earliest opportunity: early 70s. I've lived in H&F since, apart from a five year stint in Portugal in the early noughties.

I didn't get my first camera until I was about 30, a beautiful Nikon. I/we had 1 or 2 slightly plasticky film cameras for holidays in the 90s, got a Nikon DSLR in 2006. I'd always been serious but tended towards auto mode. After 2006 I learnt about manual camera settings and photo editing.

The best camera is the current camera, the one you use, the most up-to-date tech .... a mid range Panasonic. Not expensive, about £500, a Leica, doing a similar job would cost a couple of thousand. Good lenses are expensive, but I now feel confident enough to buy used. I recently bought a wide angle lens (£750 new) for £200 and did a similar deal on a macro lens.

Yeah, I guess, but ...

We had plans to buy a little holiday home in Portugal, we now have plans to retire to the English countryside instead.
