Sadiq Khan hits out at Boris Johnson using £2.6million briefing room to spread ‘lies’

.... over TfL blackhole

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/lond...e-b927941.html

After announcing the next stage of the road map, the Prime Minister blamed the “current Labour mayor” of “blowing” TfL’s finances on an irresponsible fares policy rather than the drop in travel caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Mayor of London in turn accused the Prime Minister of lying from his £2.6million tax-payer funded press conference when he claimed he left the finances of TfL in “robust, good order”. A TfL report published a month before Boris Johnson left the Mayor’s office in 2016 showed TfL had a nominal debt of £9.148bn.

Sadiq Khan tweeted: “The PM lied yet again from £2.6m taxpayer-funded press conference. Covid-19 is the sole cause of TfL’s challenges. Before the pandemic I was fixing his mess at TfL - reducing the deficit by 71% compared to what he left.”
Last month TfL has accepted the Government’s offer to extend its bailout by seven weeks despite calling for a long-term deal. A £1.6 billion bailout was agreed in May 2020, followed by a £1.8 billion deal in November 2020. The collapse in passenger numbers during the coronavirus pandemic has decimated TfL’s finances, leading it to require Government funding to keep services running. The funding package agreed in November to keep services running was due to expire next week but will now continue until May 18.

Sadiq Khan is heading for a landslide in the next mayoral electionand could become the first mayoral candidate to win outright after counting just one round of votes, an Evening Standard poll revealed last month. Mr Khan leads his main rival, Tory candidate Shaun Bailey, by 53 per cent to 28 per cent on first preferences, the Opinium survey of 1,100 Londoners revealed.
Oh-o .....

Just as some of us expected ..... BJ is using "Presidential Privilege" from the "Presidential Podium" to score party political points .....

Sadiq Kahn is the biggest incompetent liar of them all.

Don't believe what he says other wise he could end up being elected again and crime will go up, transport costs up, housing down, stabbings, up, congestion charge up, planting trees not happening and about a million other things Kahn lies about.

Just like last time

Khan is not incompetent.

He just has a very different agenda from the majority of British people which results in him being VERY popular with the majority of his electorate.

Perhaps the the real reason for the shortfall is Khan's freeze on fairs. Having previous been baled out by the Taxpayer at the beginning of Khan's tenure it's ridiculous that TFL should need yet another bale out in such a short space of time. One wonders why the whole of the UK is expected to subsidise the London Transport system, especially when you consider the inflated wages and salaries of the employees
Couple that with his latest wheeze for de-criminalising Cannabis, not to mention road pricing and it smacks of total incompetence.

But it delivers what the majority of his voters want. That's not incompetence, that's corruption.

Both are spending beyond taxpayers means.

It’s often said that the UK is in hock. The national debt is, according to some, going to cripple us. I have already made a video explaining why this is nonsense. We need our national debt.

But implicit in this suggestion that the national debt could cripple us is another idea, which is that there must be some 'dark powers' who own at least a part of the national debt to hold us all to ransom and deny any government the power to do what it wants, whatever an electorate wants. That’s why it’ worth knowing who owns the national debt, which is what this video is about.

The Government is spending what the country needs and this communication facility is indeed needed. The cost of the pandemic is gargantuan in no small way because of trying to protect the population in what is a unique situation for which there is no precedence and a chaotic evolving situation as far as the plague is concerned.

The only way to deal with it is firefighting which unfortunately will result in waste. The only alternative is to let nature run its course which would be a devastating death rate. Goodness knows it's been bad enough as it is.

Right from the get-go I've been banging on about what plagues do to societies based on what has taken place in the past.

Calls for an end to lockdown will probably be listened to --- but sadly this is not the time as will soon be seen. Equally complaining about debt being taken on in order to manage this awful Wuhu Flu is understandable but there really is no alternative other than let it kill most of the population.
