Human rights laws are legal where nations have formally signed up to the UN declaration.

But in this case the laws are the law regarding asylum and refugee status and in particular the EU being a national entity in itself. Unfortunately although the UK has implemented Article 50 untill the end of the totally unnecessary Transition period we can't escape the grip of the European Commission, the real power in the EU.

Sending convicts for imprisonment under contract is illegal?

I'm not sure, to be honest. Do you know the rules?

Re: Disgusting abuse of law

An appeal has been made for a review of sentencing of the three teenagers jailed after being convicted of the killing of PC Harper.

"Three teenagers jailed for killing a police officer will have their sentences reviewed after claims they are too lenient.

PC Harper's mother, Debbie Adlam, said her son "deserved so much better".

She added the family felt like they had been "knocked sideways" by the length of the prison terms.

"The case just hasn't brought justice for him," she said.

"The wider public has made that very obvious - they are all very angry and police officers deserve better than has been received in this case." "

Yes. Little wonder the yobs were laughing when they left the court. Probably not just bravado, either. Laughing because they realise they've got away almost scot-free.

Nowt to do with Scots, by the way, before anyone complains!

Let's hope they get another 10 years added on now, then we'll see if they are laughing on leaving court. Even with that length of sentence, which I doubt, they will be less than 50 years of age when released. The person they killed never had the chance of reaching that age!

I did post the original link about an appeal being lodged, JBR posted another, later one showing the definition of 'Scot free'.

Not a problem for me anyway Donkeyman, both links were relevant information, I believe. This all adds to my ever-present 'learning curve', although I haven't yet worked out what I am going to do with all this information!

Even if that person was given a "knockout" pill hidden in his/her food beforehand, they even be aware that that would be on it's way and that knowledge could cause they major psychological harm.
