there are more than that infected. They just haven't been tested.

I'm less worried about dying myself than about long term effects. Someone my age and state of health is likely to survive but....what does survival mean if you can get a debilitating heart condition, kidney or brain damage? I know people affected by long covid or whatever it is. It can scar for life. That's my worry. That we do not know the long term effects on those who survive.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

This might be an Australian phenomenon but this is quite an interesting story on a business current affairs program last night on how the virus has changed, maybe for ever, the way business is structured in the future.

I am not convinced this is only happening in Australia but I do know that the UK government was encouraging people to go back to their work place until the rcent second wave.

This return to workplace hasn't happened here and now that people have realised that they can live anywhere then regional centres have started to see an increase in refugees from Sydney who intend to work on line, perhaps only going to their office in the city once a week.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

I was reading an article called "How do Pandemics usually End" and this is a quote from it which I fount very interesting:

"But what about the 1918 flu pandemic? It's the big historical pandemic many have compared COVID-19 to, so how did it end in the absence of a vaccine?

The same ingredient changed, Dr Short says: herd immunity. But without a vaccine it took longer to do so than with the 2009 swine flu pandemic.

"In 1918, there was no vaccine. The virus just went around unchecked. And the pandemic continued in some places until 1921," she says.

"What happened then is that there was enough herd immunity or pre-existing immunity that it actually became the seasonal flu strain.

"That 1918 virus remained the seasonal flu strain until 1958, when it was replaced by an H2N2 strain, the Asian flu pandemic."

But achieving herd immunity in the absence of a vaccine came at enormous cost: tens of millions of people died worldwide. "

The whole article was interesting too it talked about swine flu, MERS and herd immunity, if you want to read it look here:
