Be Bold - Brexit Must Unleash Our Economy To Boom.

Just been reading an article by Tim Newark in the Daily Express this morning. Below, Liz Trust gives her view on Brexit.

PARTIAL QUOTE

Why are our wimpish MP’s so timid with the EU?

Liz Truss, Chief Secretary of the Treasury has the right idea. She fully embraces Brexit, saying that making Britain a bolder, richer, go-getting nation is what Brexit should be about, unleashing us from a stultifying bureaucracy that hampers innovation and frustrates a buccaneering attitude to grabbing a bigger slice of global trade.

She went on to say: “We need to create the incentive for entrepreneurs to invest in this country. There seems to be some reluctance to grab the opportunity afforded by Brexit to make the UK a hugely attractive country for doing business by slashing our corporate tax rates. Somehow it’s considered ungentlemanly to be so bluntly competitive with the EU. But why not?”
“Brussels has certainly done us no favours recently and why not get them to sharpen up their act by letting the free market shape our destiny by bringing in investment from all around the world. We should be so lucky to be the Singapore of the North Sea!!

Jeremy Hunt was in Singapore last week and said that Singapore’s low-regulation policies should be the model for the UK. It’s low-tax, high-skill regime has transformed it into the eighth richest country in the world and it’s no surprise that Sir James Dyson has set up his latest factory there.”
“But Hunt was harangued for his enthusiasm because it might upset Brussels and make them less inclined to give us a good deal. Oh dear, poor things. Clearly they are more interested in protectionism and defending special interest groups against global competition. That’s why Theresa May must not go through with a deal that keeps us shackled to the EU’s idea of a level playing field.”

“If we are going to make any success of Brexit, we must become braver and evoke that world-conquering spirit that enriched us in the first place”

PARTIAL UNQUOTE

What a welcome approach from a Treasury Secretary! Wish we could swap her for that traitorous Hammond.
If only more of our MP’s had the same faith in our country.

What do you think?

Hi

A No Deal means we lose all our free Trade Agreements, not just with the EU.

Singapore is very different to the UK.

They have lots of Free Trade Agreements.

Unions and restrictive practices do not interfere with business, very different Benefits System.

It would not work here, no minimum wage, having to take any job to survive.

Most of the things like employment laws are in our law system anyway they can't take away what we already have adopted so NMW is here to stay unless a government actually votes on it to stop it and I can't see a party getting in who would do that.

Same with environment and health and safety etc all our own laws.

Provided the countries with FTA's with the EU agreed, we could continue those arrangements under novation agreements ?

Hi

They have not agreed, we already know that.

Complaints have been made to the WTO, including one by the USA, who are not directly involved.

Liam Fox screwed it up, he did not negotiate with them, just announced what they where going to get.

We cannot expect to get the same terms, the EU is a much bigger marketplace than the UK.

The bigger the market, the better terms you get.

Leaving with no deal is what the Disaster Capitalists like JRM want.

I assume those here who want the same understand the potential consequences of this and the the shock doctrine that could follow under this Government with a hardline Brexiteer leader

We would likely see the implementing of neoliberal economic policies such as privatisation of anything left to privatise, massive deregulation and cuts to social services.

You need to learn how to doff your cap and show deference

While the above is somewhat tongue in cheek it is what what The wealthy Brexit backers would love to happen

The EU doesn't have a FTA with the USA it doesn't need us to leave to create one.

Besides we cannot make any trade deals while we are a member state we need to leave first then implement.

I think anyone who thinks this will work needs to check their facts and then check them again.

It's funny that many here would like foreign investment in Britain to reduce, but this idea is talking about giving foreign investors free reign and carte blanche. So all those who thought it was immoral that big corporations don't pay tax - welcome to the nth degree of that idea.

Forget pensions, the NHS, social care, welfare etc.

And where is wealth created again to pay for pensions and the NHS etc?

Well funnily enough it you check the facts our economic growth has been on the up and up since a few years after we joined the EU. Our trade with the EU has greatly enriched Britain. Being part of a massive economic community has great benefits for growth and wealth. Pulling out of that people are coming out with "rabbit out of hat" ideas to try to replace that wealth.
