Is the world getting too crowded?

Just saw this on the news :

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-48489158

If cruise ships are now killing tourists in Venice, does this simply mean that our developed world is just getting too crowded?

Friends recently went to Florence and all the commentary was about the crowds and queues for every attraction.

Do you think we will just end up with total gridlock?

There are vast unpopulated areas.

Surely they are uninhabitable? Vast areas of North America are not inhabited, but they are either desert or mountain with no access to utilities, water etc.

Everest is another good example. How many deaths in a few weeks?

None that can't be addressed.

As I understand it there are financial reasons that things are the way they are. I haven't been to the US for a while but last time it was a road trip right across the mid west down to Vegas and basically at that point they didn't get newspapers or supplies in some places on that route purely because it was not profitable to supply them. None of these places will be inhabited as far as I can see. Some of the temperatures get to beyond humanly endurable. Plus nobody wants to live there.

It's a bottleneck up there. Pictures shown a couple of weeks ago. Too many being given passes apparently.

Yes, the world is getting too crowded, but we ( the people of the world)have also been encouraged to spend money on tourism and leisure pursuits. One way of keeping the world spinning on dollars.
So many more people are travelling now far beyond Torremolinos , but the awful thing is, when one place is spoilt big hotel groups move onto the next beautiful place. Prime example is Madeira. Once a beautiful island with only a couple of hotels. It's very different now.

Venice is something different from all accounts. There can be numerous ships in at the same time and I think the volume of people is in fact leading to the crumbling and destruction . Just what I was told.

Remember the club of rome and their 1972 report, "limits to growth"?
All the natural resources their report was based on have been used up. Yet the growth has not been diminished, if anything, it has increased. There are several explanations for that, but the present day crisis, endearingly presented by our youth, will be resolved.
