I must admit, I do like them.

Did you know that they were a British invention? Nothing to do with Italy at all! They were just named after Garibaldi, after he made a visit to Britain.

Re: Could You Eat Food, Knowing A Huge Bluebottle Had Been On It?

Is this the only country, in the world, where there are, practically, no real nasties which can do us harm?

Out in the big bad world there are things which bite us , eat us and worse, like spiders, mosquitos, beetles, lions, tigers, alligators, crocodiles, big snakes, etc. etc etc.but we have none of those.

So what do we really have to worry about?

Yes, it's a little Bluebottle!

Are we wimps?

Not really, as flies that feed on excrement and decomposing bodies are a health hazard.

Other flies are ok, though.

We are also lucky to be rabies-free in his country.

Why do I need to identify them?

I think one of them had big eyes and was wearing a blue hoodie

Sorry. I'm in a silly mood. I think they were flies from the farm up the road. apparently invade every summer.

This just makes me think of Jeff Goldblum and the Fly and Keith Allen in the The Yob
