I have as many as 10 at a time, but this smart Alec is the only one that has located the bird feeder... the others eat the cat food and bread that I put in a bowl.

Purple Sandpiper.

These birds mainly breed in the Arctic Tundra, their are breeding records in Scotland( 1 to 3 pairs ) kept secret to avoid eggers.
They like to stand close to the waves on rocky shores.

I haven't a photo, but just wanted to tell you that nearly every day for the last week or so, Red Kites have been fighting with the Blackbirds over my house.

They are gliding round and round overhead, squawking and squeaking, and a couple of days ago there were 11 blackbirds and 1 kite fighting. The blackbirds seemed to be coming from everywhere.
Today there was a kite and 2 blackbirds making a right old racket at each other.

Funny thing is though, I can't quite make out who is the villain because the big boy seems to fly after them and try and peck them, then they fly and chase him.

What would be going on, any ideas? Would the kite be trying to take their eggs?
