So… is it just me?

I've been irritated watching interviews on the news tonight because the interviewees seem to start their response with "So" no matter what the question. A woman in A&E was asked about targets and every question was answered with "So…"Has this replaced "Um"?

No, its not just you. Conversational skills are a lost art.

No one answers questions properly these days all seem to need an um or a so to give them think time. Makes me think they either don't know, don't want us to know or are simply telling us lies.

Perhaps it is something we should think about. Maybe the world is moving on and we're not. I often wonder about people who use the expression "I done"..........hmmm.

Had to laugh at the language nowadays.

One of my Granddaughters has started saying Basically before
she starts her sentences. I think I counted at least 20 in one
conversation with her. I then asked her to stop saying basically
as she didn't need to say it. It seems to be the in thing now.

It definitely bothers me! Of course languages should always evolve, but our language seems to be degenerating rather than evolving.

I can't say it bothers me. I have habits myself when talking. Some of which must be irritating for others to hear
