The occult

Do you believe in pixies, fairies and goblins. Well there is lots of this sort of thing about. When we lived in Milton Keynes there was all sorts of stories flying around. We did not take much notice of such things but some people told of meetings being held in the woods and when we left there were several clubs you could join to investigate these things.
When we arrived in Wales things were even worse, people just across the road from us told stories of sightings of ghosts and things moving around in their houses. Well the trouble is, I have difficulty in taking this sort of thing seriously. I have had a very scientific education which stops me even considering such things exist. There are some very lovely paintings of fairies in art galleries around the country, but for me they are simply a figment of the imagination. There was a restaurant in Newport Pagnell where the owner said that a ghostly like figure walled through the cellar at the stroke of midnight because she had died in strange circumstances actually in the premises when it was a private house. Of course this was a great attraction to would be customers.
l did have one strange experience when I was a service engineer many years ago. I was driving up the A5 in the pouring rain in my little van when I saw a lady walking along the hard shoulder. I know you are not supposed to pick up strangers but I did feel sorry for her. I pulled up beside her and offered her a lift. She accepted my offer climbed in and we got chatting. " what do you do" she said "O not very exciting " I replied " I am a service engineer for a big refrigeration company that has contracts with Tesco, Sainsbury and Waitrose " there was a slight pause in the conversation, then I said, " what do you do " she smiled at me and said " well actually I am a witch " " don't be silly " I said " there is no such thing as witches " She put her hand on my leg and I instantly turned into a lay - by. Well you got to laugh haven't you.

One of my best friends is a Wiccan, lovely woman who rarely reveals her beliefs but she is most certain she is a witch. And TBH I would not deny she seems to have some power luckily she only uses it for good.

No I don't believe in witches, ghosts, spirits (other than gin) pixies ,fairies or gods I would say they all reside in the imagination of the 'believer' .

Re: The occult

A mate of mine said a ghost appeared to him saying it's tail had fallen off. So being a bit of a DIY person he said that he would glue the ghosts tail on as a jesture of good will. Unfortunately my mate was taken to court for retailing spirits without a licence.

Re: The occult

I love the idea of the occult. I love reading horror stories, love watching occult movies (although not many modern ones which seem to use them merely as an excuse to pump as much gore over the screen as possible), but when it comes down to real life, I don't believe any of it. There are loads of things we don't know about and can't explain in our universe, but to give them a supernatural explanation based on no evidence whatever is simply lazy. Gods, fairies, ghosts, ghouls, spirits etc etc - great fun but in the final analysis, complete nonsense!

Don't like this stuff. Don't even wanna think about it. Nothing worse than being on your own and listening for odd noises in the middle of the night when your head has been filled up with spooky stuff. Not for me thanks.

Re: The occult

I have no proof that such things don’t exist so I accept there are all sorts of spirits floating about the place and all different races have different names for them like Fairies, Goblins, Leprechauns, and Banshees in the case of my country. Wales would have their own names for them and they go back centuries in every country. If folks want to believe in them then what’s the harm of it, besides it’s good for tourism. However beware of the howl of the Banshee, a sure sign that death is about.
