Re: Over 50s Club London

Hi Patsy obviously the first book has more older pictures in but I find so much in both to look at and read that I really cannot say which I like the best. I probably associate more with the second if I am honest because I am only a young pup..

The Dun Cow further up the Old Kent Road and the Green Man have both gone. They were owned by the same gaffer either side of the road. On Thursdays and Sundays we would watch comedians like Jim Davidson Jimmy Jones the both pubs were packed the owner would have the speakers wired across the Old Kent Road so we could all listen. Crazy days.

I believe worlds end pub got its name , when they deported prisoners to down under , and one last places they stay before being deported , quite a few years ago the landlord would pay protection money to the villains , so they set it on fire, sure some died in the fire , myself used to train for boxing in the ring pub , Blackfriars rd , also drink in the flower of the forest Alan pub , what's now gone

Pretty sure Thomas Beckett pub , got its man because old Kent road was one of the routes to Canterbury were Beckett was killed , and pilgrims used to use Kent road as a route for Canterbury many many years ago ,
