Re: dropped my Nikon D800
While waiting the insurers I have a new baby on the way. it is a Nikon D810 the upgrade from the D800.
Before anyone shouts out about grey imports against official imports consider this. I have just ordered a grey import costing £1,000 ( yes you did read it correctly) less than some main stream official outlets here in the UK. To me it is a no brainer, a £1000 profit to a retailer is a complete rip off, no wonder people like me go for grey imports.
A grey import for those who don't know is exactly the same camera but not sold through official retailers.
Some manufactures say they won't repair but there are many others that will so no problem there to my mind anyway. Also that doesn't stop having them insured to cover costs
So my plan is to keep the D800 if it is repairable and possibly sell the D300 with all the extras, I have not made my mind up just yet as it is still a great camera, the only thing wrong is the button markings are a bit worn.
