Manure.

Someone gave me a bag of horse manure yesterday (How lucky am I eh?). I'm just wondering what to do with it. I don't know how old it is but it looks to be mainly straw. Should I just stick it behind the shed till next spring?

I would like to use it as a soil improver around the roses mainly but I don't have the first clue about manure.

Suggestions please.

Graphic picture coming up......

Re: Manure.

If it's fresh it could burn your plants. Manure really need to be rotted down for a month or two before you either use it as a mulch or dig it in as soil improver so I would advise yes, stick it behind the garage until the spring and see what it's like then..

What manure is it dongles? Is it horse, cow, poultry?

See if this helps, it seems quite informative I thought.
