The best garden fare from my county?

Just thought it might make an interesting and invaluable thread?

we in oz have such extremely different climes from west to east and even each state has differing regional areas with in my state for example snow on the mountain tops in the far south to hot humid tropical weather in the far north. My father-in-law here in the top end has been growing tomato plants; cucumbers ; aubergines ; kale and the like he also grows giant sunflowers as you can imagine.

what grows best for you in your country and why?

Potatoes grows well here in the UK, they need rain and we get plenty of that ,And home grown Strawberries taste better than those from abroad , just the right amount of sun ..
You cann't beat a bit of Welsh Lamb ,and Aberdeen Angus , they feed off the rich green pastures .

We're growin plenty of advocados big time ; they're being snapped up also asparagus would ya believe by the bucket load. Also plenty of sheep and lambs of course as long as we can keep the dingoes away from them! Angus beef we've also branched into and of course plenty of wild donkeys; camels and roos.

I have a friend down the road who has branched into permaculture in a big way and is now growing and providing a whole range of asian fruit and plants - long string [giant] runner beans for one and egg plants the size of bulls wots their name now?

I remember back in the 80s a friend's mum had an avocado pit in a glass in their kitchen. She was hoping it would sprout. It never did of course!

well these are advocado plantations similar to the style of say grapes ; oranges etc etc - big business and big money - our biggest problem is getting plenty of water!
