Re: The Moorside

Documentaries are fine with eye witness accounts and known facts but I don't like 'docudramas' at all, they annoy be greatly with their speculatory content of conversations.

They also introduce events into the minds of people which are not fact but become indistinguishable from fact blurring the boundaries and the truth of what actually happened.

Re: The Moorside

I watched part 1. It didn't give me anything I wasn't expecting - poor people, ugly clothes, lots of smoking and swearing, lank hair, dysfunctional families, ignored children. Thoroughly depressing and a tawdry tale for our times.

As well as all that eccles, I couldn't make out half what they were saying. It was not just the accents, the actual sound seemed muffled to me.
Could everyone else hear it clearly?

Re: The Moorside

There was the odd few words I couldn't pick up . It was as I was expecting . One thing did stick out in my mind was how the community pulled together , and I remember this happening 8 years ago . Part 2 next Tuesday . I'm just wondering how many actually knew Shannon was with the uncle . Also how awful for Shannon 9 years old being in that flat for 4 weeks and not going out or speaking to mummy .

No, you weren't alone with the mumbling. It's a trend nowadays for some reason - maybe sub titles will become compulsory so we can actually follow the damn plots.

Re: The Moorside

How on earth did these two uneducated people fool the Police and the Public for weeks?

The Yorkshire Police spent £3.2 million in the search for Sharron.and it was all a scam.

Re: The Moorside

I watched last night and found it well acted and interesting . How the community felt at being duped you can Immagine the anger . The real life Julie did visit her on numerous occasions .

Apparantly the cost of the search went into three million pounds and went on for 24 days . Incredible when you think Shannon was only a mile away . It was a neighbour who heard a child running around in the flat below and rang the police who finally brought the search to an end .

P.S. I was wrong about stepfather knowing , he didn't , but was jailed for pornography on his computer .
