I think they have been a stabilising force on our country generally, and countries with no aristos often look to ours with envy so I think we can keep them for that alone.

apparently the Queen only gets a small 'wage' from the govt which hasn't gone up significantly for years for all the work she does each day and every day

That davo is a 'load of old bulls**t!!! Only this year, did Mrs Windsor pick up an EXTRA £5 million because of a change in the way the Government calculates to royal precept.

And it was also reported that went to increasing salaries for the household staff. I may add I know a few of the Windsor staff members and they are not on high wages at all so any increase to them I think is very fair.
